How often does a golf course off Barton Club Drive open to anyone who buys a ticket? Omni Barton Creek's golf page says plainly that "access to our golf courses is reserved exclusively for resort guests," and Fazio Canyons is one of the four courses that rule covers. From November 12 through 15, that changes. For four competition days, general admission puts a member of the public on the grounds for $80 to $120, and children 12 and under get in free.
The tournament doing this has had a complicated fall. Most of what has been written about it is either out of date or about the sponsor. What matters to someone who lives a few minutes from the first tee is narrower. The golf is fully settled. The arrival plan is not.
The PGA TOUR and Good Good Golf announced the event on October 20, 2025, as the Good Good Championship. It was a FedExCup Fall stop at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa's Fazio Canyons Course, and the PGA TOUR's announcement called it the TOUR's return to Austin for the first time since 2023. Good Good was a golf media brand founded in 2020, and the tournament was its first partnership with the TOUR. The TOUR framed the event as a way to reach "our game's younger fans."
That framing lasted about ten months. A joint statement posted by the PGA TOUR on August 27, 2026, carried Good Good's decision to "step away as sponsor of our event in Austin this fall." According to the Associated Press report carried by KVUE, the decision followed criticism of a Callaway driver ad that Good Good produced. The ad was deleted the day it was posted, August 20. The same report says the tournament had already been renamed "Austin Championship" on the TOUR's website and that the TOUR confirmed the event would still be played.
Golf Channel had been building a season of Big Break x Good Good, and the winner was to receive a sponsor exemption into the Austin field. The network canceled the season and explained why in a statement quoted by AP:
"Following recent developments involving Good Good, and including the fact that the intended outcome of the series can no longer be fulfilled, Golf Channel will not be able to complete this season of Big Break as planned."
Golf Channel said Big Break would return next year. For November, though, the reality-show storyline and the creator-brand identity are both gone. The official tournament pages list no concert, fan festival or creator programming. What is left is a conventional PGA TOUR week, which suits a neighborhood more than a youth-marketing experiment would have.
The title slot is still open. On October 13, Sports Business Journal reported that the TOUR was still in talks with potential partners less than a month before the event. Citing sources, SBJ said the TOUR had turned down several offers, had been seeking around $5 million to $6 million a year on at least a two-year deal, and could likely land something in the low seven figures for 2026 alone. SBJ also pointed to a sign that a 2026 title deal may not happen at all. The tournament had released a new logo and put tickets on sale under the Austin Championship name. A sponsor could still be named before the first round. Either way, the dates, course and ticket prices were set before the name changed.
The competition itself has not moved. According to the official tournament overview, the event is a 120-player field playing 72 holes of stroke play for a $6 million purse. The winner takes $1.08 million and 500 FedExCup points. The official Pro-Am page puts the Official Pro-Am on Wednesday, November 11, with one TOUR professional and four amateurs in each group.
The course is the reason a local might buy a ticket even without following the FedExCup Fall standings. Fazio Canyons plays 7,433 yards at par 72. Tom Fazio originally designed it in 1999 and played a significant role in its recent renovation. The layout runs through limestone cliffs and along Short Spring Branch, framed by red oaks and sycamores. General admission includes walking the course along the ropes. For anyone who has only seen this terrain from Southwest Parkway or the edge of the Greenbelt, that is the closest public look at Short Spring Branch's course routing they are likely to get.
| Day | Date | General admission | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wednesday | Nov. 11 | Weekly ticket only | Official Pro-Am |
| Thursday | Nov. 12 | $80 | Round one |
| Friday | Nov. 13 | $90 | Folds of Honor Friday presented by Compliance Solutions |
| Saturday | Nov. 14 | $120 | Round three |
| Sunday | Nov. 15 | $100 | Final round |
| All week | Nov. 11–15 | $350 | Weekly general admission |
The youth policy is generous for a TOUR stop. Children 12 and under get in free with a ticketed adult, up to two per adult, and can go anywhere on the public grounds. A child 2 or older still needs a ticket to enter any of the hospitality venues. For a family of four with two young children, a Thursday visit costs $160 in admission.
Those venues have local names: Longhorn Lodge, SoCo Suites, Waterloo Lofts, Capital City Cabanas, Lady Bird Landing, Choctaw Club and Hill Country Cabanas. The hospitality page asks buyers to inquire rather than listing prices, and it marks Hill Country Cabanas as sold out for 2026.
The charity side was also in place independent of the sponsor. The tournament's charity page names Play Yellow as the primary beneficiary. Play Yellow is a Children's Miracle Network movement supporting children's healthcare, founded through a partnership involving Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, Children's Miracle Network and the PGA TOUR. The same page features Folds of Honor, which funds education scholarships for spouses and children of fallen or disabled U.S. service members and first responders.
The open questions are mostly about getting there, and those affect the people on Barton Creek Boulevard more than the sponsor does.
What a spectator can bring is clearer. The PGA TOUR's tour-wide rules bar bags larger than 6 by 6 inches, with clear bags allowed up to 12 by 6 by 12 inches. Food may be permitted at the tournament's discretion in a one-gallon clear resealable bag, and outside beverages and coolers are not allowed. Phones stay on silent, flash photography is off, and live streaming is not allowed. The Austin ticket terms add that standalone photo or video cameras are banned on competition days and allowed only on practice days.
There is another way in that does not involve parking at all. The volunteer page lists an Austin Championship polo, outerwear, a hat and a tote for each volunteer, along with one any-day ticket, a credential, complimentary parking and meals during shifts. The page says registration "will reopen soon" while also linking to an active new-volunteer form, so check its current status before planning around it. For someone who lives nearby and wants to be inside the ropes, a volunteer credential with parking included is the most reliable arrival plan published so far.
The week also starts early at the resort. Omni Barton Creek's events calendar lists Barton Creek Live: Unplugged on Friday, November 6, from 9 to 11 p.m., free and for guests 21 and over.
I have built and remodeled more than a hundred homes, so I tend to watch how a course like Fazio Canyons is routed through limestone and creek bottom. Those same conditions shape every lot on the hills around it.
